Today Hosam was transported early morning from Tora Prison to the State Security Prosecutor’s office for his routine extension.
He was once again extended for another 15 days without due process. To date no charges have been filed and he has been held in solitary confinement pretrial detainment for 135 days.
Ola and Hosam, as well as thousands of people arbitrarily detained, will begin to suffer from the cold winter nights in Egypt. Egypt’s prison cells are extremely difficult in the winters as they have no source of heat to keep them warm, with temperatures particularly dropping during the winter evenings, and frigid air leaking through openings from the halls.
Our family calls on Egyptian authorities to bring an end to this arbitrary detainment and reunite Ola and Hosam with their loved ones. We call on the international community and human rights organizations to advocate for their freedom.
