Today Hosam was transferred to the courthouse for his detention extension hearing. He was placed in a glass cage. His lawyer argued that Hosam and Ola’s pretrial detention is in violation of due process and that the judge has already approved two previous 45 day renewals without any evidence presented by the prosecution. Nothing new has been offered nor are there any investigations taking place. In addition to this, Hosam’s previous renewal in absentia was in violation of the law.
The lawyer requested Hosam and Ola be released on bail, but this was denied and Hosam was renewed for another 45 days, similar to his wife Ola.
Hosam and Ola continue to remain in arbitrary detention without charges or reasons.
