The Egyptian authorities have failed to provide adequate medical care and this constitutes cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment and in certain extreme circumstances may constitute torture.
Both Ola and Hosam are older in age, 55 and 58 respectively, and are vulnerable to worsening conditions as a direct result of that detention. Ola and Hosam are experiencing severe psychological stress.
Ola is suffering from a meager diet due to poor food quality, unhygienic conditions, and a lack of access to the washroom. Ola is provided with a maximum of 5 minutes per day to use the prison washroom. Prison authorities have denied her access to the prison canteen forcing her to rely on prison rations that are inedible. The family has been denied rights to visit her and provide outside food.
